Calling all green-fingered enthusiasts! At Wilko, we’ve teamed up with the Sunday Express to launch Wilko Amateur Gardener of the Year!
The first of its kind for Wilko customers; you’ll get the opportunity to showcase your gardening talents and be in with the chance of winning up to £350 in Wilko vouchers!
You don’t have to be a pro to enter the competition. And you don’t need a lavish green lawn to get you started. Whether you’re making the most of small spaces with hanging baskets, growing greens on your allotment or cultivating a riot of colour in your flower beds, the Wilko Amateur Gardener of the Year is open to you!
There are six different categories for you to enter:
- Best Garden Design
Design your garden any which way your heart desires. The garden has to be your own private garden, not a stately manor or public area!
- Best Allotment
Get creative with your private allotment. The allotment has to be a plot of land rented by yourself for growing vegetables or flowers
- Best Junior Gardener
Young and green fingered? You can enter this category if you’re under the age of 18.
- Best Hanging Basket/Container
If you enjoy concentrating your efforts into small but beautifully formed projects then this is the one for you. Just one hanging basket/container per entry please!
- Best Wildlife Garden
Be at one with nature! Your garden must be one that encourages natural wildlife, such as insects and birds.
- Best Upcycled Garden
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! In a private garden setting you should demonstrate the use of discarded objects into new garden items.
So, whether tending to your lawn is like a full-time job or your small but beautiful balcony makes your neighbours green with envy, this is your chance to be rewarded for your hard work. Pick the category which suits you best. You can enter as many categories as you like, just send us one photo per entry.
There’s a £100 Wilko gift card and trophy up for grabs for the winner of each category, and the overall champion will bag an extra £250 Wilko gift card and be crowned Wilko Amateur Gardener of the Year.
Not only that, you’ll have your talents judged by Sunday Express Gardening Editor Louise Midgely. No pressure!
Once you’ve primed your flowers and put the finishing touches to your garden design, all you have to do is photograph your hard work and send one photo to firstname.lastname@example.org
All photographs must be taken in a garden or outdoor setting and needless to say, the photos need to be yours alone.
The competition is running from 26th March – 30th September and all terms and conditions can be found here.
Get creative! We’re rooting for you!
