Want some spooky decorations for your Halloween party? Make your own bewitching bunting – it’s easy and fun for the whole family!

You will need…

  • Coloured card (black and orange is appropriately Halloween-y!)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • String
  • Paints
  • Paintbrush
  • Sticky tape
  • Glue
  • Decorations – try pompoms, felt, glitter, coloured pens, anything you can get your hands on really!

How to make…

draw your bunting template1. Draw a triangle with 1 shorter side and 2 equal, slightly longer sides onto a piece of card and cut out. This will be your bunting template. You may want to use a ruler for this step.

draw round your template on card2. Place your template onto your black and orange card and draw round it. Cut out. Repeat until you have 7 pieces of each colour.

attach string to bunting3. Lay out your bunting pieces alternating black and orange, with the short sides at the top. Place the string over the tops of the pieces.

stick bunting to string4. Attach your bunting to the string. Use sticky tape or glue. Press firmly to stick.

"bewitch" your bunting5. When your bunting is stuck together (if using glue, make sure you leave time for it to dry), flip it over and begin to “bewitch” your bunting. Decorate it using glitter, paints, feathers, pens… the choice is yours! Again, leave to dry.

6. Your bunting is done! Hang in the windows or on the walls for a spookily bewitching addition to your Halloween party.

Bewitching tips…

Make your bunting in different shapes – try square, or round, or even try cutting out Halloween-y shapes like bats or pumpkins!

Try using offcuts of fabric instead of card.
