As part of the Wilko Wild Bird campaign to help encourage children and adults to protect wildlife, we invited 30 schools across the country to enter a dazzling competition to design a bird box.

The competition was also opened up to customers at participating stores.

From multi-storey bird palaces, to cutting-edge modern mansions, entrants were asked to ‘think outside of the box’ when it came to bird loving design ideas. We were pleased to receive over 400 entries, all of them innovative, thoughtful and eye catching with entrants ranging from primary school children to adults of all ages. The entries were carefully judged by a team of bird enthusiasts from Wilko.

And the winner is …

We are proud to share with you that our schools winner is George Stephens, a pupil at The Rydal Academy in Darlington. Adam Sheffield, a young customer from the Wilko store in Ely is our winning shopper.
Both will receive a year’s supply of bird feed, a bird stand plus other essentials to create the perfect setting for spotting our feathered friends in throughout the year. Check out their designs below.
