If you like to get creative in the kitchen or have been inspired by the delicious bakes on this year’s The Great British Bake Off, why not get those oven gloves on and bake your own Christmas gifts? It’s a great cost-effective way to give personalised presents, and can be a load of fun for the whole family!
Bake your own
If you’re looking to get the kids involved, you could make something simple like gingerbread men or cookies, and present them in a lovely tin. Our gingerbread man cutters are perfect. Simply pop into a jar and add a festive ribbon and tag for a fantastic way to present your gift.
If you’re not as confident in the kitchen, or simply don’t have the time, you could even fill your jar with their favourite sweets – think jelly babies, bon bons or pick ‘n’ mix. Perfect for those with a sweet tooth!
Create a kit
If you’re buying for someone who likes to bake, why not give them the ingredients to do it themselves? It may even encourage a novice to get more hands-on in the kitchen! It’s quicker and easier than you’d think – just get hold of the following ingredients to make 48 cookies:
• 185g plain flour
• 100g packed brown sugar
• 50g caster sugar
• 45g rolled oats
• 3/4 teaspoon baking soda (also known as bicarbonate of soda)
• 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
• 100g chocolate-covered sweets (such as M&M’s or Smarties)
• 75g cocoa crisped-rice cereal (such as Coco Pops)
Put the ingredients into a large jar in the above order, and you’ll get a lovely layered appearance. Add some ribbon for a festive touch, and a little tag with the instructions on how to make the cookies.
